17. Stars

This had been a fine day. Spending time with his family and his best friend's at the zoo, where the grandchildren got so excited they were jumping around, and he kept chuckling because it wasn't his turn to deal with this anymore.

"The sky is beautiful tonight," said Philip behind him. David turned around from his spot on the veranda and smiled at his friend who approached him.

"It is. The stars are bright tonight." He took a swing of his beer.

"You successfully skipped the dishes, punk," Philip continued.

"Score for me, ha! Audrey will break my ears about it later." David chuckled. Philip leaned against his shoulder, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"We voted to watch The Snowpiercer while you were absent, we'll have to head back inside soon."

"Soon…" David winked at Philip, linking their fingers together.
