1. Love

Claws digging into the tender flesh of my heart, the arteries popping like stiff breadsticks. Blood flows at each thump, thump, thump, and with it goes my love for you. Gasping through the thick lump caught into my throat, threatening to make me vomit every feeling I ever had for you. Hammer pounding on my head, cracking open my skull and freeing my burning brain; burning with shame and pain and anger and words not able to be spilled by my speechless mouth.  How I wish my armor would be flawless, not a flinch against hot oil thrown at my back. Instead I scream, ribcage tight, body wracking because it can't hold on to the breaking; because it can't hold on to the mess you made. Now you turn away, for I didn't accept to bend. Instead I broke down.
